The Fortune Cookie(s)
So Fortune shone on me twice today in my dessert:"Friendship will blossom into love."
or...
"You will get some new clothes soon."
Now which one is more likely?
I think I know.
Do you?

The Race that is Life
Life is one of those races in nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point in being first. Same with life, where health and relationships are the marble. Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die.
One thing about nurturing the spark - don't take life seriously. You will never get out of it alive anyway. Life is not to be taken seriously, as we are really just temporary here. We are like a pre-paid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500 weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up? It's ok, skip a few classes, goof up a few interviews, fall in love, get hurt, then fall in love again.
We are people, not programmed devices.
So live. Don't just exist.

Jason Bourne
Super hot.Very high on the to-do list.
And all of a sudden, familiar torture.
Damnit! Turn off the TV !!!!
Wednesday
1.55 pmA familiar road.
A familiar song.
Sunshine.
And a memory from almost a year and half ago.
Of a phone conversation. A toothache.
And a meeting to ensue.
1.57 pm
A familiar road.
A familiar song, almost over.
Sunshine.
A memory, almost faded.
Minus a toothache.
Plus a heartache.

Holi hai!
To elaborate, today is the Festival of Colours, lovingly called Holi. Where people wear white and play each other silly with powdered colours, water balloons and even eggs sometimes all morning. And the day ends in the late afternoon with a big feast. Its my favourite day of the year. I get to wear white, be with my family and friends, dance and eat.The above only happens in India though. The last time I went home, it was March 14th. It was Holi and a national holiday. I landed around 3.30 pm, which is when the festivities start dying. But my family arrnaged a big gathering in my honour and they waited all day to celebrate it with me. And celebrate we did. Sunshine, colours, water balloons, water hoses, running from water hoses, laughing. And more laughing. It was the best day.
Alas.
In other news, in another 'cultured' country of the world, a 75-year old woman was sentenced to 40 lashes and 3 months in prison for 'mingling' with two men who were not close relatives. Now, I know, the word 'mingling' especially in quotes arouses some keen interest. But all she really did was ask them to bring 5 loaves of bread from the store because she was either too old to walk to the store or she was too poor to afford the bread. Or maybe both. In her defence, she said, that she breastfed one of the men when he was a baby, which establishes her maternal relation with her. And the other man was his best friend.
The two men were also sentenced to lashing and prison.
Did that make sense to you?
Good. Me neither.

Stay.
Just the way you are.Sometimes hurtful.
Sometimes comforting.
Stay.
Just the way you are.
At times a soft breeze.
And then a stormy obsession.
A little silk.
And then some sandpaper.
Sometimes innocently entangled.
Sometimes a fierce fight.
But always, simply, full of fragrance.
Don't want to change you.
Not a bit.
Not one bit.
Without pretention.
Without decoration.
Without dilution.
No less.
No more.
Just perfection.
So stay.
Just the way you are.

Move on, S.

Coz where you're standing, you're the only one left.
